Barrie Fire and Emergency Service (BFES) is a team of dedicated professionals who deliver emergency services to the citizens, business, and visitors to Barrie. Originally organized in 1844, BFES has become one of the most respected fire services in Ontario, providing high-level service in fire inspection/code enforcement, fire protection, technical rescue, training, communications, origin and cause investigations, and emergency management planning.

The Deputy Director reports to the Director of Emergency Services (Fire Chief) and directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Operations Branch within Barrie Fire and Emergency Service. The goal is to ensure the safety of people, property conservation, protection of the environment, and responders in the event of fire and other emergency events. The Deputy Director also provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Emergency Services (Fire Chief of Barrie Fire and Emergency Service).
