Adjunct Professor Opportunity in Pharmaceutical Sciences

As an Adjunct Professor at Durham College, you will have the opportunity to teach lab sections for PHRM2103 – Advanced Pharmaceutics. This course covers theoretical principles and practical aspects of solid dosage manufacturing and testing, as well as other dosage forms. You will also discuss the theory and practice of chemical analyses from a pharmaceutical perspective and apply mathematical calculations used in USP and regulatory publications.
Responsibilities- Create a positive learning environment that accommodates students' diverse backgrounds and individual learning styles;
- Utilize adult education principles to engage students in the learning process;
- Effectively use educational technologies to support learning and manage grades;
- Develop curriculum that assesses student learning using appropriate strategies and tools;
- Ensure that course and program curriculum is current and relevant;
- Work independently and demonstrate initiative;
- Work effectively with students, the program team, and stakeholders;
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A relevant degree combined with industry credentials (Master's is an asset);
- A minimum of five years of recent work experience;
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding of Universal Design for Learning and current assessment methodologies;
- Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset;
- Demonstrated use of current technologies to support student learning and grade management;
- A proven track-record of life-long learning;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders;
- Understanding of the Ontario college system;
The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Part-time faculty teach up to 6 hours per week with varied schedules. Additional benefits may include professional development opportunities and access to college resources.
