Senior Reservoir Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our team at Strathcona Resources Ltd. in Calgary. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in the subsurface reservoir engineering, well planning, and well forecasting for our undeveloped thermal assets.
Responsibilities- Support the development of our in-situ undeveloped bitumen assets, ensuring optimal exploitation and development of the asset.
- Lead activities evaluating field development strategies, reservoir management plans, and propose strategies to sustain and improve reservoir performance.
- Utilize analogues, analytical, and simulation techniques to generate medium and long-term production forecasts for wells, pads, and assets.
- Support regulatory applications and filings as needed, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Ensure best practices and accurate representation of subsurface data and inputs associated with thermal reservoir modeling, including suitable incorporation of geological models.
- Develop and implement reservoir operating strategies, propose and evaluate steam and NCGI allocation strategies for production optimization, pressure management, and monitor KPIs.
- Identify and support well completion strategies and designs, including steam splitters, tubing cuts, FCDs, artificial lift, and other relevant technologies.
- Support well start-up, ramp down, and late-life well strategies, ensuring optimal asset value.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including Production, Operations, Geosciences, and Development teams.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a relevant field.
- 10 years of related industry experience directly involved with reservoir engineering aspects of thermal projects, preferably SAGD.
- Goal-oriented and capable of meeting aggressive deadlines in a collaborative environment.
- A track record of creativity and innovation in generating and implementing reservoir engineering solutions, especially in a thermal environment.
- Must have a passion and drive to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Excellent analytical, integration, and project management capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in SAGD surveillance, field development planning, and forecasting.
- Demonstrated experience in greenfield SAGD development and start-up.
- In-depth familiarity with thermal reservoir simulation (CMG Suite).
- Experience with PVT and Solvent SAGD, and special core analysis.
- Familiarity with Python coding skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer, or eligible for membership with APEGA.
- Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada without restrictions.
