QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must possess a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution. Three years of recent related experience are also required. You should have a comprehensive understanding of alcohol and drug addiction issues, substance use assessments, treatment methodologies, intervention strategies, the change process, and community dynamics. Additionally, you should be knowledgeable about available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering services in the community. You must also be familiar with applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act. A valid BC Driver’s License is also necessary.

Experience working with adults and youth with mental health and substance use issues is essential.

  • You must demonstrate advanced competence congruent with the organization’s framework and standards within a rehabilitation/recovery, harm-reduction focused model.
  • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing, is crucial.
  • You must possess effective interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills are also essential.
  • You must demonstrate judgment, good observation, and client assessment skills, as well as tact and empathy.
  • You should be able to work independently, demonstrating initiative with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of adult education skills is necessary.
  • Collaborative work as part of an interdisciplinary team is also required.
  • You must promote positive change and independence.
  • Prioritizing and organizing your workload is essential.
  • You must be able to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Operating a personal computer with various Windows-based software is necessary.
  • Fostering good public relations is also essential.
  • Operating related equipment is required.
