Job Summary

The Human Resources Consultant will provide strategic human resources management services and advice to internal clients and stakeholders to support strategy, planning and operations. This role will inspire all levels of leadership to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence to be influential leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership advice to assigned client groups in all areas of an effective and efficient human resources program focused on labour and employee relations, recruitment and succession planning, employee development, performance management, employee engagement and recognition, human resources information management, productivity metrics, and regulatory and standards compliance.
  • Assume conduct for, or assist with, the process of employee investigations related to respectful workplace, privacy and other potential breaches of policy.
  • Develop and implement human resources strategies and initiatives to support business objectives and improve employee engagement and productivity.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement organizational change initiatives and provide guidance on change management best practices.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to employees to enhance their skills and knowledge and support their career advancement.

Requirements

  • 5 years of progressive experience providing generalist human resources management support to management in a unionized environment, preferably in a large multi-enterprise and/or public sector organization; experience working in the health sector is an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree in human resources, or in a relevant discipline combined with a post-graduate certificate in human resources management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Chartered Professional Human Resources designation with current membership in good standing or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certifications in project management, human resources, change management and quality processes are assets.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities as described in the framework including a passion for customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, management and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
