At Aecon, we are seeking an experienced Earthworks Superintendent to join our team for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements project in Calgary, Alberta.

Job Summary

The Earthworks Superintendent will provide leadership and supervision for day-to-day field operations, ensuring the safety of crew members, productivity, and adherence to OH&S and Company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants.
  • Lead safety meetings and inspections, and mentor crew members.
  • Track and report project progress, quality control, and resource requirements.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
  • Direct Foremen on productivity issues and monitor work performance.
  • Follow project plans and budget, ensuring production goals are met.
  • Assist Forepersons in translating drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan, and prioritize tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Work with the Construction Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements.
  • Manage daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules, and budgets.
  • Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching, and team building.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry.
  • Experience with earthworks, grading, blasting, MSE wall construction, and bridge construction.
  • Experience working on a large, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Alberta.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office.
  • Valid Driver's License.
