About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our client's vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate and detailed cost estimates for assigned tenders.
  • Evaluate bid specifications and drawings to ensure that information is correct and current.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received and reviewed.
  • Estimate civil earthworks and underground projects, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Evaluate and strategize sub-trade execution and estimates, ensuring that the best possible outcome is achieved.
  • Develop and maintain the overall construction plan, including schedule, concept, budget, procurement, and risk assessment.
  • Prepare and maintain status of plans and subcontractor bid packages, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors, ensuring that all necessary information is communicated effectively.
  • Produce comprehensive bid packages for Project Manager and Superintendent, including labor and equipment budgets, material suppliers, subcontractors, tender specifications, and contracts.
  • Update database and costing system with current project data, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, ensuring that all necessary information is included.
  • Conduct tender review meetings to review scope, production, construction approach, competitive landscape, schedule, and markup.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in underground utility infrastructure, with a combination of experience and education considered.
  • P.Eng or CET preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including developing templates, tracking changes, creating spreadsheets, and using formulas.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules, and cost reports.
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes, environmental regulations, and safety practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with B2W software, with leadership or management experience considered an asset.
