About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at the John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals in need, helping them to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Training: Assist clients in accessing education and training opportunities to enhance their employability and personal development.
  • Experience and Employment: Help clients to gain work experience and employment skills, and provide support in finding and maintaining employment.
  • Screening and Assessment: Conduct initial assessments and screenings to identify clients' needs and develop personalized support plans.
  • Health and Wellness: Provide support and guidance on health and wellness issues, including access to medical and dental services.
  • Financial Literacy: Assist clients in managing their finances and accessing financial resources and benefits.
  • Community Connections: Help clients to build and maintain connections with their community, including access to social services and community resources.

Requirements
  • Education: A diploma or certificate in a related field, such as social work or human services.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a support worker or social services role.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Availability: Availability to work 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work varied shifts.
