Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Regularly inspect facilities and operations to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies and implement safety measures for various hazards.
  • Lead safety training sessions, including new hire orientations and ongoing programs tailored to specific risks within a diverse workforce.
  • Oversee compliance with environmental regulations related to waste disposal, pollution prevention, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions to ensure standardization of regulations across all locations.
  • Provide oversight to the Joint Health and Safety Committee and in collaboration develop and recommend proactive strategies for emerging health, safety, and environmental trends.
  • Assist in implementing the Business Continuity Program and act as a liaison with relevant agencies, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Requirements

Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum of 5 year's experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in Energy, Construction, Manufacturing, or Oil and Gas sector.

Certifications: Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CHSC) are desirable.
