Job Title: Primary Care Paramedic

At NL Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Primary Care Paramedic to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Primary Care Paramedic provides emergency care and transportation of seriously ill patients in a pre-hospital setting, while in transport to hospital, as well as in hospital. They also provide primary client care by surveying the emergency situation and taking necessary action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical examinations and perform comprehensive assessments and tests.
  • Provide emergency care and transportation of seriously ill patients.
  • Function as a leader and mentor within the Paramedicine program.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to provide care to patients in the ER.
  • Participate in facility-based response teams, including the Code Blue Response team and the Code White Response team.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Graduation from an approved paramedic program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association.
  • Active BLS Certification.
  • Active PMO Certification (including all current courses/modules).
  • Active registration with NLPR.
  • Current physical capability testing certificate (within the last 3 months).
  • Demonstrated training and/or experience in IV Therapy and symptom relief medications.
  • A valid Class IV driver's license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • A current Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
  • Current registration number with Provincial Medical Oversight.
  • Successful Candidate will be required to be within 20 kms of the facility when required for standby.
  • Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE).
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Primary Care Paramedic.

Shift work may be required.

Salary: CG-29 ($27.07-$30.07)
