VIA Rail Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to lead their Mechanical and Maintenance team at the Vancouver Maintenance Centre. This is a key role that requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure the efficient maintenance of equipment and the safety of employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of unionized employees, coordinating tasks and fostering a positive work environment;
- Promote health and safety by enforcing regulations, ensuring safety training, and maintaining a safe workplace;
- Drive continuous improvement by tracking performance goals, addressing issues promptly, and proposing enhancements;
- Oversee efficiency and quality of workmanship, manage budgets, optimize team efficiency, and ensure adherence to company policies;
- College diploma or equivalent technical studies with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams;
- Familiarity with Transport Canada Railway regulations is an asset;
- Strong communication skills in English, proficiency in Microsoft Suite, and willingness to travel as needed;
- Must be available to work various shifts according to operational needs;
- Leadership: Ability to guide and influence;
