Job Title: Educational Assistant - Support for Students with Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to provide support to students with special needs in our schools.

About the Role:

As an Educational Assistant, you will work under the direction of the Principal to provide individualized support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, and other exceptional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities in academic and daily living skills
  • Participating in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs
  • Providing support to deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises, and stretches
  • Modifying programs and supporting learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues
  • Performing outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties as required
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Preferred Qualifications:

Arabic language skills and experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder are assets.

We offer a competitive salary range of $28.42 to $35.55 per hour, a 10-month work year, and access to mileage reimbursement in accordance with PR. 529. FIN (Expense Procedure).
