About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled technical professional to lead our Software Development team in Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies organization. As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of software development engineers and partnering with other managers to design, build, and operate innovative picking software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Lead a team of software development engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to help them grow and develop their skills.
  • Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach, fostering a culture of continuous engineering improvement.

About Amazon Fulfillment Technologies

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network, inventing and delivering software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

AFT's Outbound Flow team pairs data science with innovative technologies to optimize throughput within every Amazon fulfillment center, delivering smiles for Amazon customers with safe, sustainable, cost-effective, on-time package deliveries.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
