Job Summary:

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Criminology with a focus on Critical Surveillance and Security Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate expertise in research and teaching in this area, with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and publish refereed articles in top-tier journals
  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Criminology, including methods and theory
  • Supervise graduate students in their research projects
  • Participate in the educational and administrative activities of the department and the Faculty of Social Sciences

Requirements:

  • PhD in Criminology, Sociology, Political Science, Human Geography, Communications, or a related field with specialization in surveillance and security
  • Demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence in teaching and research
  • Ability to teach in French at the time of hiring
