Geriatric Occupational Therapist Position in Residential Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Geriatric Occupational Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert occupational therapy services to residents in our residential care facility.
Key Responsibilities- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment programs for residents to maximize their physical function and promote independence and safety;
- To provide occupational therapy assessments, consultations, and interventions for residents, including determining the appropriate use of recognized occupational therapy assessment tools;
- To collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individual treatment goals and provide treatment and/or teaching to residents and caregivers;
- To supervise designated staff, ensure clinical objectives are met, and participate in development of standards, procedures, and protocols;
- To maintain knowledge of current developments in evidence-based occupational therapy and geriatric practice by reviewing relevant literature, consulting with other healthcare professionals, and attending relevant education programs.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy;
- Two (2) years' recent acute or community experience with a geriatric population or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC;
- Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists - BC (CAOT-BC);
- Demonstrated knowledge of current developments in occupational therapy relevant to working with a geriatric population;
- Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy of residential care;
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and revise educational programs;
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
CAD $42.56 - $52.95 per hour.
