Job Title: Elementary School Teacher

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Elementary School Teacher to join our team at THE CATHOLIC INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS OF NELSON DIOCESE.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching elementary school students, developing and implementing lesson plans, and assessing student progress. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach elementary school students in a private school setting
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Assign and correct homework
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum
  • Prepare, administer, and correct tests
  • Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and field trips
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Provincial or Territorial Teaching Certificate
  • Membership in a provincial or territorial teachers' association or federation
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
