About the Role

Athabasca University's Library and Scholarly Resources is seeking a highly skilled Digital Resources and Metadata Librarian to join our team. As a key member of our library, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the discoverability and accessibility of our digital collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead metadata projects and drive continuous improvement in digital resource management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement metadata standards and best practices.
  • Manage and maintain digital asset management systems and tools.
  • Develop and implement digital preservation strategies to ensure long-term accessibility of our digital collections.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on metadata and digital resource management to library staff and faculty.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience in metadata creation and management, including familiarity with metadata standards such as MARC, Dublin Core, MODS, etc.
  • Knowledge of digital resource management systems and tools, such as integrated library systems (ILS), digital asset management systems (DAMS), and institutional repositories.
  • Experience with digital preservation practices and principles.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with colleagues across different departments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with trends and developments in digital librarianship and metadata standards.
