Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Municipality of North Cowichan Full time

The Municipality of North Cowichan is located in the picturesque Cowichan Valley on Southern Vancouver Island, between Nanaimo and Victoria. Our communities offer a diverse range of artistic, cultural, and outdoor recreational activities.

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor to perform a variety of responsibilities in our fast-paced local government setting. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, confident, and customer-focused, with the ability to influence and persuade others.

As a key member of our team, you will play a lead role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment by promoting empathy, equitable practices, and proactive conflict resolution. You will provide clarity and insight into legislation, collective agreements, and policies, and demonstrate a thoughtful approach when navigating employee grievances and concerns.

You will lead full-cycle recruitment, working closely with other team members to ensure HR oversight and consistency within competitions. Additionally, you will provide recommendations on compensation and classification requests, champion HR-led employee programs, and provide oversight to internal communications.

To be successful in this role, you should have an understanding of organizational and political awareness as a public-sector HR professional. You should possess an undergraduate degree in Business Administration or a related discipline and/or a Human Resources Management Certificate, plus a minimum of five years' experience in mid-to-senior level human resource positions.

A competitive salary, ranging from $70,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience, is offered. Comprehensive benefits and a dynamic work environment make this a rewarding opportunity for the right candidate.
