Job Summary
Canada Life is seeking a highly skilled Disability Case Manager to join our team in Toronto. As a Disability Case Manager, you will play a critical role in the proactive management of assigned disability claims, ensuring timely and professional service to our clients and their employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage assigned disability claims, including STD, LTD, and Life Waiver, by evaluating medical information and job duties.
- Evaluate the extent of disability through interviews or written communications with applicants, employers, physicians, and other medical service providers.
- Conduct medical investigations by phone or in writing to gather necessary information.
- Write letters to inform all affected parties of decisions regarding disability cases.
- Implement return-to-work programs and negotiate with employers.
- Evaluate healthcare coordination programs and rehabilitation programs to ensure positive effects.
- Adhere to service level agreements associated with policyholder claims.
- Respond to telephone inquiries from applicants, physicians, lawyers, and other stakeholders regarding claim assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Kinesiology, Disability Management, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience or training in disability insurance, life and health insurance, or human resources is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent listening skills, and the ability to work with different priorities and timelines.
- Solution-oriented and a decision-maker with excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset.
- Fluency in French and English, both oral and written, is an asset.
- Consent to a criminal background check and security screening for the Government of Canada Enhanced Security Clearance.
