Gameplay/UI Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Gameplay/UI Engineer to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data-driven gameplay and UI systems using Python, C++, and ActionScript 3.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data-driven gameplay and UI systems
  • Create new Sim behaviors, including interaction with the world, other Sims, and objects
  • Build creative aspects of real life within a simulation game, such as socialization, careers, and weather
  • Collaborate with designers, producers, artists, and other engineers to improve the data-driven framework
  • Write technical design documents detailing software requirements
  • Develop unique content for a game that supports a large demographic of simulation player patterns
  • Optimize code for performance and memory usage

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a hands-on development role
  • Technical abilities with projects implemented in C++ or Python
  • Experience with Windows platform and development tools
  • Experience optimizing existing game code

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous engineering experience owning a major system
  • Experience working in large data-driven games or applications
  • Experience developing for large-scale live products
  • Knowledge of UI technologies such as Scaleform, ActionScript 3, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or familiarity with Flash
