Laboratory Technologist for Prenatal Screening

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the BC Children's and Women's Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist I, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality laboratory testing services to patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Obtain laboratory samples from patients as required and perform laboratory procedures according to established policies.
- Analyze results and communicate test outcomes to designated members of the healthcare team.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, standards, and controls for use in analysis, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Respond to requests and inquiries for test results via various methods, following standard operating procedures.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, including setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Assist in evaluating technical procedures and contribute to the development and maintenance of policy procedures for assigned work areas.
- Participate in departmental training programs by demonstrating established laboratory procedures to new employees and students.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, identifying depleting stock and requisitioning items as needed.
Our laboratory testing services are provided at 31 sites across the lower mainland and central coast of BC. We are part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), which plans, manages, and evaluates specialized health services to provide equitable and cost-effective care throughout the province.
