Overview

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist I to join our team in the Division of Genome Diagnostics. This role is responsible for performing laboratory procedures and analyzing results according to established policies. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Job Description

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist I, you will perform a variety of tasks, including obtaining laboratory samples from patients, preparing solutions and reagents, and communicating test results to healthcare teams. You will work collaboratively with other health professionals to ensure accurate and timely results. Your strong attention to detail and organizational skills will enable you to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

1. Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)

2. One year recent related experience in the designated discipline within the last six years, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

3. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures and technical competence to perform tests used in the assigned section of the laboratory, including quality control and safety

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

5. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others, and to prioritize workload effectively

6. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

7. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019)
