Job Overview

The Clinical Care Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a full-time, permanent Clinical Care Specialist in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 8 (PRT 8). This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, client-centered care to individuals with Schizophrenia.

About the Role

In this critical position, you will work collaboratively with an inter-professional team to deliver comprehensive psychiatric and general nursing care. Your expertise will be utilized to ensure the safety and security of the client care environment, adhering to the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, the CAMH Practice Model of Care, CAMH Policies and Procedures, and other relevant Legislation and Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize a primary nursing model to perform ongoing assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate inter-professional plans of client care for clients with Schizophrenia.
  • Liaise with other services in the Complex Care and Recovery Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients.
  • Work effectively with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, provide education support and supervision to students, and participate in research activities.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of crisis intervention, psychosocial rehabilitation, severe and persistent mental illness, and Schizophrenia.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate. Preference will be given to candidates with a B.Sc.N and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong nurse-client relationships and work within a collaborative, diverse inter-professional team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in psychiatric nursing, particularly with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions.
  • Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in a second language (French/English).
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as access to employee wellness programs.
