Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Farm Boy. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the store.


Key Responsibilities


Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:



  • Providing exceptional customer service and supporting Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience
  • Working with the Store Manager and other department managers to execute strategies aimed at achieving financial results
  • Communicating effectively with the team, including one-on-one coaching, huddles, metrics, product knowledge, and corporate policies and procedures
  • Developing and motivating the team, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and trust
  • Promoting company policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Assisting in the implementation of health and safety programs and acting on recommendations made by the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Participating in community events and ensuring Farm Boy's continued community presence
  • Supporting the Store Manager in retail operations and deliverables, including inventory, ordering, item maintenance, quality and rotation, shrink, merchandising, invoicing, scheduling, and payroll
  • Ensuring the store is properly protected and that opening and closing procedures are conducted timely and appropriately
  • Ensuring the store's financial information, safe management, document maintenance, and retention, and preserving the integrity of individual front-end staff

Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in retail, preferably in the perishable food industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve, and Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months
  • Good knowledge of the retail industry, food products, and superior standards of quality
  • Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Excellent team building and team participation skills
  • Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools
  • Experience working with various computer software programs, including Microsoft Office
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Fluency in English and French is an asset

Work & Sensory Environment


This role requires:



  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time during shift
  • Lifting, carrying, or handling heavy objects
