Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labourer to join our team at Canadian Plains. As a Labourer, you will assist skilled trade persons and perform labour activities at our various construction and project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hazard Identification and Reporting

Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices to ensure a safe working environment.

Equipment Maintenance

Fuel equipment when needed and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.

Cleanliness and Organization

Clean construction work areas and maintain a tidy workspace to ensure efficiency and productivity.

Collaboration and Support

Work with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work, and assist pipefitters and welders with their tasks.

Heavy Equipment Operation

Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in safely moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities.

Shop Activities

Perform other activities in the shop, such as grinding, cleaning, and general maintenance, as directed.

Pre-Job Meetings

Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them.

Corrective Action

Correct unsafe acts and bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the immediate supervisor.

Tool Management

Return tools (clean) back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift.

Personal Protective Equipment

Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks.

Requirements
  • Education

Grade 12 or GED is required.

Pre-Employment Testing

Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Driver's License

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Labour Experience

Previous specific labour experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Communication Skills

Fluent in speaking and reading English is required.

Teamwork

Capable of working as part of a team and following directions.
