Job Summary

Canadian Plains is seeking a skilled Labourer to assist our trade professionals and perform various labour activities at our construction and project sites. As a Labourer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe work practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Fuel equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Clean and maintain construction work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work.
  • Assist pipefitters and welders with their tasks to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Support heavy equipment operators by securing attachments, signaling operators, and providing assistance in other activities.
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep tasks in the shop, including grinding, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Correct unsafe acts and report unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Return tools to their designated areas after each job or shift.
  • Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during tasks.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Previous labour experience, preferably in a construction or related field.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in speaking and reading English.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
