Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labourer to join our team at Canadian Plains. As a Labourer, you will assist skilled trade persons and perform labour activities at our various construction and project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hazard Identification and Reporting: Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Fuel equipment when needed and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Site Cleanliness: Clean construction work areas to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work, and assist pipefitters and welders with their tasks.
  • Heavy Equipment Operations: Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in safely moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities.
  • Shop Operations: Perform other activities in the shop, such as grinding, cleaning, and general maintenance, as directed.
  • Pre-Job Meetings: Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them.
  • Corrective Action: Correct unsafe acts and bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the immediate supervisor.
  • Tool Management: Return tools (clean) back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks.
Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12 or GED.
  • Pre-Employment Testing: Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Labour Experience: Previous specific labour experience.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in speaking and reading English.
  • Teamwork: Capable of working with small tools and as part of a team.
  • Direction Following: Must be able to follow directions.
