About the Job
The First Cook will be responsible for playing a key role in executing dinner service, working closely with the culinary team to prepare feature proteins and meet quality standards. This senior member of the production team will demonstrate effective leadership and work with Culinary leadership to monitor daily operations.
This position involves working Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 3:00pm, with possible expectations to work general holidays. The hourly rate ranges from $19 to $19.85, and benefits include full coverage starting immediately, plus vacation pay accrued at 4%.
Responsibilities and Expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to handle, prepare, and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to approved methods and standards. They will also prepare meals according to client schedules and menu plans, ensuring timely delivery within budget guidelines.
Additionally, they will be responsible for:
- Preparation and presentation of food to meet quality standards.
- Effective management and coordination of kitchen staff.
- Maintenance of a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Proper storage and rotation of food supplies.
- Food order preparation and dispatch.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess previous cooking experience, hold a current Food Safe certificate, and have a basic background check. A Level 1 First Aid certificate is an asset, as is large-scale camp cooking experience, Red Seal certification, or other relevant qualifications. High standards of maintaining a clean and organized kitchen are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders or stairs, and performing repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
