About the Role

The Senior Kitchen Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless execution of daily dinner services, collaborating closely with the culinary team. Working under Culinary leadership, this key member is responsible for preparing high-quality feature proteins required for dinner service, adhering to stringent quality standards. This position demands effective leadership and entails monitoring daily operations, alongside Culinary leadership.

This is a Monday-to-Friday position, working 7:00am to 3:00pm. It may also involve working on general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis, commencing at $19-$19.85 per hour. The position includes full benefits, commencing immediately, as well as vacation pay accrued at 4%. A basic background check is required.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to approved methods and standards.
  2. Preparation of meals based on client scheduling and within menu plan and budget guidelines.
  3. Preparation of adequate quantities of menu choices by following production quotas.
  4. Food preparation close to consumption time to ensure freshness.
  5. Supervision of portioning meals on the serving line to guarantee accurate client portions.
  6. Cordination of kitchen staff involved in meal preparation and serving.
  7. Proper storage and rotation of all food supplies.
  8. Preparation and sending of food orders.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  1. A valid Food Safe certificate.
  2. Previous cooking experience.
  3. A current Level 1 First Aid certificate (an asset).
  4. Large scale camp cooking experience (an asset).
  5. Red Seal or other certifications (an asset).
  6. Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories (an asset).
  7. High standards in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
  8. Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
