Educational Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at Bluewater District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with intensive special education needs in elementary and secondary schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical, physical, and safety/supervision support to students with special needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
- Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
- Support students with behavioral challenges and develop strategies to promote positive behavior
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment
- Secondary school diploma plus completion of a post-secondary education program in a related field, such as Education Support Worker, Educational Assistant Certificate, or Early Childhood Educator
- Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting and transferring students
