About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at Bluewater District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with intensive special education needs in elementary and secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical, physical, and safety/supervision support to students with special needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Support students with behavioral challenges and develop strategies to promote positive behavior
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma plus completion of a post-secondary education program in Education Support Worker, Educational Assistant Certificate, Early Childhood Educator, Social Service Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
