Reporting to the UG Mine Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine underground Department. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring that all mining operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of underground supervisors, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards;
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment; Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, including the application of Supervision Formula;
  • Oversee daily underground mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and backfill activities; Ensure that production targets are met or exceeded; Participate in engineering designs;
  • Coordinate the allocation of equipment, materials, and personnel to optimize productivity and efficiency;
  • Ensure all operations comply with environmental regulations and company policies by maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production;
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments, including maintenance, engineering, and safety, to ensure smooth operations;
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers and evaluate their performance and needs; Make the required logistical and procurement arrangements accordingly;
  • Determine and communicate to the Superintendent the recruitment needs, participating in the selection process, organizing the trainings, and conducting performance appraisals for direct reports;
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in mining engineering or a related field is preferred;
  • 5 to 10 years of underground mining experience with a strong background in supervision;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills. Proficiency in mining software and equipment operation;
  • Knowledge of UG safety regulations and best practices;
  • Hold, or be eligible to hold WSCC Blasting Certificate, Mine Rescue Certificate, and Shift Boss certificate;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in and lead a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
