Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the Department of Statistical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the area of statistical sciences.
Job Summary:The Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of statistical sciences. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Responsibilities:- Teach and mentor undergraduate students in statistical sciences
- Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, syllabi, and assessments
- Collaborate with other instructors and teaching assistants on teaching and course development
- Supervise undergraduate research projects and provide guidance on research methods and statistical analysis
- Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
- PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related area
- Teaching experience in statistics, biostatistics, or data science at the undergraduate level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Commitment to excellence in pedagogical inquiry and teaching-related scholarly activities
- Experience teaching large classes and managing teaching assistants
- Collaboration with other instructors and teaching assistants on teaching and course development
- Interest in supervising undergraduate research projects
