Position Overview
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Director, Nursing Education to lead our esteemed nursing education programs. Reporting to the [Reporting Manager Title], the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing education at McMaster University.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for all aspects of nursing education programs, ensuring alignment with university goals and best practices in nursing education.
- Curriculum Development and Innovation: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative and evidence-based curricula that meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
- Faculty Development and Mentorship: Foster a culture of excellence by supporting faculty development, providing mentorship opportunities, and promoting collaborative research endeavors.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage resources, including budget allocation, staffing, and facilities, to ensure the smooth operation of nursing education programs.
- Accreditation and Compliance: Maintain compliance with relevant accreditation standards and regulatory requirements for nursing education programs.
- Technology Integration: Identify and explore opportunities to leverage technology to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes within nursing education.
- Special Projects: As a faculty resource, the Director will lead or participate in special projects as required by the Faculty.
Education:
- A Master's degree in a relevant field is required. An MBA and/or Health Professional degree would be an asset.
Experience:
- 5 to 10 years of managerial experience in an academic health sciences center and/or healthcare organization is essential.
- University administration experience is preferred.
- Nursing education programs experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with university structure, policy, and administrative systems is crucial.
- Proven experience in developing organizational vision and strategic plans is required.
- Project management expertise is essential.
- Financial analysis and analytical expertise are highly valued.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
- A participative management style and the ability to coach and mentor staff at all levels are crucial for creating a high-performing team.
- An objective, unbiased, and apolitical approach to decision-making based on principles of fairness and equity is essential.
- Authenticity and genuine respect for people and diverse viewpoints are highly valued.
