Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Chief of Staff to support the Chief of Staff in managing the day-to-day operations of the Métis Nation of Ontario. The successful candidate will have a strong background in government leadership, project management, and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Chief of Staff, including solving problems and streamlining processes.
  • Work closely with MNO administration, including C-Suite, MNO Directors, and elected leadership, to support the effective functioning of the Chief of Staff.
  • Build strong relationships with MNO Directors, staff, and elected officials, and act as a liaison between the Chief of Staff and MNO administration.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of reports, presentations, and other materials to support the Chief of Staff and other executives.
  • Proactively address complex matters and urgent issues that require immediate attention.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role or government leadership positions.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher certification.
  • Recent experience interacting with boards or councils at a senior leadership level, including demonstrated ability to build relationships and advance key issues.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, including the ability to create strategies, lead meetings, and plan new opportunities.
  • Experience in project management, including overseeing the implementation of communications strategy, policy, and operational plans.
  • Superior organization skills, project management, and time/priority management.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve conflicts and manage challenging situations.
  • Significant knowledge of Métis rights, governance, and policy issues at a local, regional, and provincial level.
  • Bilingualism (considered an asset).
