Job Title: Food Service Director

Job Summary:

Aramark Canada is seeking a Food Service Director to lead the food service operations in a healthcare facility in Winnipeg, MB. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing culinary and dining solutions to meet customer needs and tastes, overseeing food standards and controls, and ensuring financial accountability and compliance with regulatory agencies and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, administer, and direct all activities related to food, housekeeping, and facilities, including financial accountability and compliance with regulatory and Aramark standards.
  2. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments to provide a unified food service experience for residents, visitors, and employees.
  3. Ensure staff follow proper food handling procedures, including maintaining food in a temperature safety zone.
  4. Perform all work in accordance with regulatory safety procedures and requirements, including WHMIS, OH&S, and Aramark audits.
  5. Interact with Client Management and maintain effective client and customer relations at all levels of the client organization.
  6. Complete food service rounding with residents in dining rooms on a weekly basis as per schedule.
  7. Work with the Dietician to update weekly diet sheets and communicate changes to foodservice staff and assist with menu development.
  8. Provide overall direction and manage performance for all supervisors and front-line employees, ensuring employee development, engagement, and compliance with human resource-related policies and standards.
  9. Direct, staff, and train the food service department regarding food presentation, quality, cost control, and cash handling.
  10. Maintain and verify employee work schedules through web-based payroll tracking systems.
  11. Develop and maintain a strong leadership team.
  12. Display a polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers and co-workers, maintaining a friendly, efficient, and responsive attitude toward clients and residents.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Red Seal chef or strong culinary experience is an asset.
  3. EVS experience is an asset.
  4. Previous experience managing in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  5. Menu management, balancing a budget, and working within assigned operational costs/budget.
  6. Requires a minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience managing operations with financial and operational responsibility.
  7. Comfortable using Office365, especially Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  8. Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with clients, customers of the client, and support staff.
  9. P&L accountability and/or contract-managed service experience is desirable.
  10. Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client, and Aramark information.
  11. A clear Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement for all qualified candidates.
