Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Used Trailer Sales Manager to join our team at Maxim Truck and Trailer. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for overseeing all used trailer business transactions, from appraisals to sales, ensuring that we meet or exceed customer expectations, sales/profit budgets, and inventory turns within the total inventory budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with Account Managers for updates, create trade-in and resale values for Account Managers on physical appraisals, and decide if the unit will be retail/wholesale or will go to an auction.
- Oversee and approve retail sales, sell wholesale units, and purchases of all used trailers, including surplus Leasing and Rental units.
- Ensure all used trailers are prepped for resale by reviewing trailer appraisal sheet, arranging internal or sublet repairs/service, including any safety repairs, and following up on work in progress.
- Promote the sale of used trailers and collect market trend information, attending auctions, maintaining relationships with industry contacts, coordinating advertising, and organizing contest promotions for Account Managers.
- Provide used trailer sales support for all Account Managers selling used trailers by assisting with conditions, locations, sales contract details, making sales calls with Sales Representatives, sourcing specialized trailers, and responding to customer complaints.
- Assist in formulating the annual business plan, budgets, and productivity measures by location/product from information provided by the sales force.
- Occasional travel as needed, primarily to other Maxim Branches.
Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license & passport.
- Minimum 5 years in heavy-duty truck/trailer sales for product familiarity.
- Prior management experience (e.g., creating budgets, developing standards, etc.).
- Business Administration degree or diploma is an asset.
- Organized, sets priorities, meets deadlines.
- Negotiates well and builds relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of people.
- Proficient with computers – Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work with interruptions.
- Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
