Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Stress Analyst to join our team at BWX Technologies, Inc. as a Structural Integrity Engineer. This role will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and thermal-hydraulic performance of nuclear components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform numerical analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions.
  • Provide input and support to Project Engineering, including input to set the design, preparation of calculations and reports to qualify the final design, and evaluating non-conformances as required.
  • Responsible to demonstrate acceptance to the criteria of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the Customer's specification.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
  • Experience with finite element analysis.
  • Experience using general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
  • Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME BPV Code would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes would be an asset.
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Typically, 2+ years of experience.
  • P.Eng or interest in obtaining same would be an asset.
