Strategic Lead Counsel for Saskatchewan Crown Corporations

Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Strategic Lead Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a vital role in shaping the overall direction, culture, and performance of CIC and the Crown sector. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring alignment with government and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic legal advice and manage the provision of legal services to CIC and the CIC Board of Directors on matters including commercial transactions, procurement, and contract management.
- Analyze and review amendments to legislation, regulations, or Orders in Council and draft, interpret, and advise on legislative and regulatory amendments.
- Negotiate, prepare, and approve legal memoranda and agreements.
- Develop frameworks and provide oversight to policies relevant to CIC and the Crown sector.
- Serve as Legislative, Privacy, Access, and Public Interest Disclosure Officer for CIC, ensuring the development of frameworks, policies, and practices to support compliance.
- Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor Degree and membership in The Law Society of Saskatchewan or eligibility for immediate enrolment as a member.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in private practice, as corporate in-house counsel, or as public sector legal counsel in areas relevant to CIC and the broader Crown sector in Saskatchewan.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills combined with sound judgment to anticipate issues, interests, and trends and provide strategic advice that informs executive decision making.
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $145,000 - $165,000, depending on experience. Additionally, CIC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and opportunities for professional development.
