Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan (CIC) is a leading organization in the commercial Crown sector, serving as the holding company for Saskatchewan's Crown corporations. We are seeking an experienced Lead Corporate Counsel to join our team and provide strategic legal advice on matters impacting the Crown sector and Government of Saskatchewan.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership position that requires a strong strategic thinker with exceptional judgement and planning skills. As Lead Corporate Counsel, you will report directly to the Vice President, Crown Services, and work collaboratively with Crown sector General Counsels, Executive Government colleagues, and relevant stakeholders on complex business issues and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic legal advice and manage the provision of legal services to CIC and the CIC Board of Directors on matters including commercial transactions, procurement, and contract management.
* Analyze and review amendments to legislation, regulations, or Orders in Council, drafting, interpreting, and advising on legislative and regulatory amendments.
* Advise on, negotiate, prepare, and approve legal memoranda and agreements, ensuring alignment with government and business/industry priorities.
* Develop frameworks and provide oversight to policies relevant to CIC and the Crown sector, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
* A Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor Degree and membership in The Law Society of Saskatchewan (LSS) or eligibility for immediate enrolment as a member.
* At least ten (10) years of experience in private practice, corporate in-house counsel, or public sector legal counsel, with expertise in areas relevant to CIC and the broader Crown sector in Saskatchewan.
* Strong strategic thinking and planning skills combined with sound judgement to anticipate issues, interests, and trends, and provide strategic advice that informs executive decision making.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead and work effectively with teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Compensation Package
We offer a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings, and generous paid time off.
