Salary Estimate

Based on industry standards and location, the estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our Bach-Simpson monitoring team in the North American Transit market. As a member of this division, you will design, develop, and maintain various electronic equipment for trains. The monitoring team is responsible for the Bach-Simpson monitoring products and projects.

Your primary responsibilities will include reporting to the Products Line Manager, designing, commissioning, and providing technical support for Transit and Locomotive electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems of varying size and complexity. You will work collaboratively with other engineers to bring new products from prototype to production.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in circuit design, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
  • Proficiency in electronic design software (Altium Designer and OrCAD).
  • Experience in circuit theory and PCB design principles.
  • Solid understanding of circuit theory, PCB design principles, and electronic components such as diodes, transistors, opt-electric devices, display technologies, discharge devices, power sources, and ICs.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, firmware integration, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical systems design and programming.
  • Programming experience in C and experience with real-time, multi-threaded, or memory-constrained operating systems.
  • Knowledge of testing and certification standards relevant to electronic equipment.
  • Able to read, understand, and apply procedures.
  • Excellent analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently and with minimum supervision; collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent fault-finding, critical thinking & problem-solving skills.
Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have legal authorization to work in Canada and be willing to travel to the customer site as required (10% or less). Additionally, you must be able to travel to the US for business trips.
