Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Marine Operations professional to lead our team in Toronto. As Director of Marine Operations, you will be responsible for managing the Marine department, ensuring safe and high-quality operations while maintaining profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Marine Operations Department, overseeing vessel operations, capital improvements, maintenance, repairs, and financial management.
  • Manage new vessel builds, equipment upgrades, vessel maintenance, and repair projects, including major rehabs and equipment overhauls.
  • Oversee capital purchasing and manage the department's budget.
  • Monitor compliance with provincial, federal, and industry-specific legislation, as well as company standards.
  • Maintain external relationships with authorities, regulators, stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Select and specify major equipment and materials to maintain a fleet of five vessels and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with Transport Canada and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry knowledge of best practices, new technologies, and systems to improve guest experience and employee performance.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in marine operations, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Minimum five years of leadership experience.
  • Post-secondary education from an accredited maritime college or institution preferred.
  • Master 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic Certificate.
  • Minimum five years of boat handling experience required.
  • SVMO Certificate (training provided).
  • Current Marine Advanced First Aid.
  • Current Transport Canada-approved medical certificate within the previous two years.
  • Strong leadership, customer service, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Possess and maintain a current Ontario driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a retirement savings plan.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Toronto, requiring frequent outdoor work in various weather conditions. The successful candidate must be able to walk, stand, sit, and work for extended periods, and may be required to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). If required, they must be willing to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments.
