About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Co-op/Intern to join our team at Segal. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technology skills to contribute to the development of solutions to challenging client issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and gather information to support actuarial valuations and projects.
  • Review and analyze work products, including plan data and financial statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide input to the development of solutions and recommendations for clients.
  • Create and update valuation programs and spreadsheet applications to support actuarial projects.
  • Assist with report preparation and government filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior actuary and consultant staff to support the effective presentation of work products to clients.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years (and ongoing) undergraduate education or an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
  • Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred, and the intent to attain actuarial accreditation is required.
  • 0-3 years of retirement plan actuarial experience within a consulting and/or insurance company environment.
  • Relevant computer and software skills, preferably including Excel.
  • Task management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-orientation, organization, and analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively within a diverse group.
