The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Actuarial Co-op/Intern. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to contribute to the development of solutions to challenging client issues.

The Role

The Actuarial Co-op/Intern will be responsible for completing actuarial valuations for multiemployer pension plans, public pension plans, and other actuarial projects under the supervision of experienced actuaries. This will involve researching and gathering information, reviewing and analyzing work products, providing input to the development of solutions, and creating and updating valuation programs and spreadsheet applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and gather information to support actuarial valuations and projects.
  • Review and analyze work products, including plan data and financial statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide input to the development of solutions and recommendations for clients.
  • Create and update valuation programs and spreadsheet applications to support actuarial projects.
  • Assist with report preparation and government filings.
  • Work with senior actuary and consultant staff to support their effective presentation of work product to clients.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years (and ongoing) undergraduate education or an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
  • Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred, and the intent to attain actuarial accreditation is required.
  • 0-3 years of retirement plan actuarial experience within a consulting and/or insurance company environment.
  • Relevant computer and software skills, preferably Excel.
  • Task management skills.
  • Detail-orientation; organization and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively within a diverse group.
