Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist - Sustainability to join our team. This role will be responsible for maintaining and implementing our environmental management system and programs, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise on environmental norms, laws, regulations, and best practices to internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a consultant to the executive team on environmental matters, including the development and implementation of our sustainability plan.
  • Plan and coordinate environmental committee meetings to advance our environmental initiatives.
  • Coordinate, improve, and maintain our environmental management system (ISO 14001) in collaboration with the Sustainability Manager.
  • Develop and implement environmental training programs for employees.
  • Collect and analyze data to develop environmental performance indicators and communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of environmental objectives and priorities, and participate in management reviews.
  • Act as a change agent to promote accountability and responsibility among team members.
  • Provide expertise on environmental aspects and coordinate activities with other team members.
  • Implement a program to conduct audits and assist coordinators in analyzing non-conformities and producing reports.
  • Provide expertise to executive teams on complex environmental matters and participate in projects related to construction, network maintenance, and real estate acquisition.
  • Participate in the analysis and review of environmental reports (Phase I, Phase II, ecological studies, etc.) for ongoing projects.
  • Ensure the development and approval of environmental policies, directives, procedures, and other documents, and their continuous improvement.
  • Establish a framework to ensure the vigilance and implementation of environmental processes and participate in various committees within the organization.
  • Coordinate environmental team meetings to ensure uniformity and understanding of tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, geography, chemistry, or a related field.
  • A master's degree in environmental science or a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental management.
  • Experience with interventions in aquatic, humid, sensitive environments, and presence of species with protected status is an asset.
  • Experience in implementing and operating an environmental management system is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Regular full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Head office, 1001 boulevard Robert-Bourassa, 26th floor, Montreal, Quebec, H3B 4L4.
  • Occasional travel to maintenance centers and garages may be required.
