Emergency Department Nurse Training Opportunity in Northern BC

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Emergency department at GR Baker Memorial Hospital. As part of our Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP), you will have the opportunity to develop your nursing skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.
About the RoleAs a staff nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care within the framework of quality management. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide safe and competent emergency nursing care. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity unit, providing novice-level care.
About the ProgramThe REDEP program combines online curriculum with skills/simulation lab and clinical practicum to prepare registered nurses to provide safe and competent emergency nursing care. Upon completion of the program, learners will transition into the Northern Health Critical Care Program-High Acuity Unit (NHCCP-HAU). Successful candidates may be required to complete pre-requisite courses through part-time distance education prior to assuming this position.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide safe and competent care
- Work in a high-acuity unit, providing novice-level care
- Develop nursing skills and knowledge in a supportive environment
- Current BLS certification within a year is mandatory
- Prior experience on an acute care ward (medical/surgical) preferred
- Preference for participants who have completed an electrocardiogram (ECG) course prior to beginning REDEP
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team

Benefits- Estimated salary: $73,000 - $93,000 per year, depending on experience
