About This Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Facilities Maintenance Project Coordinator to join our team at Douglas College. As a key member of our facilities department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and infrastructure.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and administering various maintenance and construction projects across campus, including planning, budgeting, and supervision. You will work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Conduct visual field inspections and document findings as required.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems meet college expectations and project specifications.
  • Project Planning and Execution: Provide project support to facilities managers and project leaders by assisting with project planning, coordination, and administration. Maintain and coordinate information flow and project records, including proposals, contracts, risk registers, and status reports.
  • Communication and Liaison: Coordinate and attend meetings, prepare agendas and supporting documentation, and communicate project status and progress to stakeholders.
  • Safety Management: Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are communicated effectively to contractors and employees. Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field (construction technology, operations management, etc.)
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction site work, preferably with the mechanical or electrical trades
  • 2 years of experience in coordinating projects, including project development and execution
  • PMP certification or working towards it is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems and terminology
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning and scheduling tools
  • Knowledge of current safety standards and regulations applicable to maintenance activities
What We Offer

In addition, we offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
