About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Facilities Coordinator for Event Management and Facilities Operations to join our team at University of Toronto Schools (UTS). The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the school's events and facilities needs, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage room bookings for events and coordinate facilities purchases and supplies;
  • Perform daily inspections of the school and grounds to ensure building safety standards are met, and coordinate minor repairs;
  • Address facilities concerns and requests related to school shows, dances, and other events;
  • Develop and maintain class inventory, manage year-end clean-up, and act as backup to the Facilities Services Lead and Events Services Coordinator as needed;
  • Handle room setup for school and external events in consultation with the Events Coordinator;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of three years of experience in the hospitality industry, with some event management experience. You should also possess a post-secondary diploma, including Food Handling Certification or equivalent education and experience. In addition, you should demonstrate knowledge and experience in Food Safety Regulations at large events, First Aid/CPR, Health and Safety, and WHMIS training. You should also be willing to undergo Scissor Lift certification training.

You will possess excellent organizational and project management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access), and skill in using web-based service management systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong work ethic and positive attitude, are essential for success in this role.

This position requires working late shifts or weekends approximately 20 times a year, lifting heavy loads up to 23kg, and exercising a high degree of diplomacy and customer service. Compensation

This is a unionized position with a Pay Band 9 salary range of $64-$82 per hour, with an annual step progression. A comprehensive compensation package includes medical benefits, pension plan, life and LTD insurance, educational assistance/tuition reimbursement, and employee assistance program. All UTS employees are eligible to participate in the University of Toronto's Joint Membership Club and have access to the University's library and other amenities.
