Key Responsibilities:- Strategic HSE Development: Support senior management in the strategic development and communication of HSE initiatives and organizational commitment to the OHS system.
- Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders on HSE-related matters.
- OHSM Systems Management: Manage the overall OHSM systems and ensure the program meets legislative and client requirements and is easily audited (COR). Perform COR internal maintenance audits (AASP).
- Leadership and Culture: Lead by example to promote proactive and reactive reporting. Inspect and observe employee acts/behaviors and drive a health and safety culture to strengthen systems and be a Health and Safety industry leader.
- Client Requirements: Monitor client H&S requirements (ISN, Complyworks, Avetta platforms) and on-going development (writing/re-writing) of CA/AB legislative and client specific Safe Work Practices/Standards to ensure provincial legislation compliance.
- Resource Support: Be a resource person to support the workers JWHSC and monitor/verify legislative requirements are being met.
- Vendor Management: Maintain and monitor the approved vendor list and pre-qualification of new vendors. Ensure verification of WCB clearance, appropriate insurance, H&S selection criteria, technical selection criteria, site-specific orientations compliance etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Incident Management: Manage incidents including performing investigations, and corrective action plan.
- HSE Training and Education: Support development and deployment of HSE training and education programs. Monitor and maintain employee certifications including the development of HSE training packages and delivery of training.
- Competency Management: Maintain the competency management system and ensure practical demonstrations have been completed to verify transfer of knowledge.
- HSE Record Keeping: Support compliance with HSE record keeping requirements.
- Regional HSE Statistics: Periodically analyze regional HSE statistics and report on trends and recommend actions to improve HSE performance.
- NSC Standards: Ensure compliance to NSC standards and perform monthly logbook auditing.
- Safety Meetings: Develop content for and chair monthly safety meetings and supervisor meetings.
- WCB Claim Management: Manage WCB claims and facilitate effective return to work program.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of occupational HSE work experience within the oil and gas industry or similar.
- Certified as a COR internal auditor (Certificate of Recognition).
- NCSO considered an asset.
- CRST/CRSP considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of SALUS digital safety system is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of NSC standards and transportation compliance are considered an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal HSE regulations and standards applicable to Oil & Gas operations in Canada.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
