About the Role:

GFL Environmental is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its team in Squamish, BC. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have 1+ year of experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic and a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks and heavy-duty equipment
  • Use of various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders, and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procuring parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • FOLLOW DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS, WORK INDEPENDENTLY, AND MAINTAIN ACCURATE RECORDS
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, and climb

Working Conditions:

  • May include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and fumes

Compensation Package:

We offer an attractive compensation package that includes an estimated annual salary of $60,000 - $80,000 based on experience and qualifications.
